Now: AOM 2012

This conference is incredibly huge so it’s almost a relief to discover how (relatively) small the OM track actually is. The best aspect of the conference lies though perhaps in the chance to meet a number of gurus one may know from theories we borrow, this morning I could e.g. listen in to a session where Jay Barney and David Teece (among others) discussed (and disagreed!) about business models.

I also like the cross-functional sessions where papers relate to a common theme but one can spot an ops mgmt paper alongside, say, one from critical mgmt studies (CMS). That’s less surprising when considering all the green and sustainable tracks – and I hear sustainability is also a rather common theme at the OM doctoral symosium this year.

But soon off to some publisher and journal receptions. There arer incredibly many “meet the editors” sessions here… So let me follow with an ad, JHLSCM and IJPDLM will be represented at the Emerald one this evening :)
